Fadiel Adams Accuses Parliament of Lying Over Faulty Laptop After Madlanga Commission Delay

SOUTH AFRICA — National Cooperative Convention (NCC) leader and Member of Parliament Fadiel Adams has publicly accused Parliament of dishonesty after the institution denied that the laptop issued to him was dysfunctional.

Adams made the remarks outside the Pinetown Magistrates Court, where he is facing criminal charges of fraud and defeating the administration of justice. He was speaking to ABC News at the time.

Madlanga Commission appearance postponed

Adams had been scheduled to testify before the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday, but his appearance was delayed after he reported that his parliamentary laptop was faulty. He told the commission the device had prevented him from accessing critical emails, which in turn caused him to miss the deadline for submitting his statement.

Parliament subsequently denied that the laptop was non-functional, a claim Adams flatly rejected. He accused the institution of selectively choosing to respond to the laptop matter while refusing to comment on other significant issues that have emerged from the Madlanga Commission proceedings.

"The business of Parliament is to make sure that it is clean and it is not," Adams said

Adams Points to interference from the top

Adams went further, suggesting that the circumstances surrounding the postponement of his testimony were not coincidental. He indicated that what appeared to be a straightforward technical issue pointed to something far more deliberate.

"To me it's confusing. It's clear that this thing is deeper than we thought, it goes high, probably to the highest office in the land," Adams said.

He stopped short of naming any individual but implied that interference in his commission appearance extended beyond Parliament itself.

Briefly News also reported that National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader Fadiel Adams renewed allegations against KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, this time pointing to a recent arrest he says is directly linked to the senior officer. Adams spoke out following a brief appearance before the Madlanga Commission, where his testimony was postponed to 19 August 2025. The delay came after commissioners received his affidavit late.When asked about the substance of his affidavit, Adams pointed to the arrest of a prominent Durban businessman, alleging the matter was directly connected to the provincial police commissioner.
