GAUTENG — Police have dismissed speculation of a serial murderer operating around Kempton Park, despite detectives recovering four female corpses across nearby locations over recent weeks.
South African Police Service national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe addressed safety fears surrounding the R21 belt, pointing to the latest discovery on 11 September 2026, where a victim in athletic wear was located near a hotel site in Rhodesfield. Her remains showed clear physical trauma.
Distinct Recoveries Near Major Transit Routes
The initial deceased individual was found unclothed in mid-July. Subsequent discoveries on 24 August and 10 September revealed two additional partially-clad victims, with investigators flagging comparable physical injuries across the crime scenes.

Law enforcement took the foreign national partner of the first deceased woman into custody. Detectives are cross-referencing evidence to establish potential overlaps among the three subsequent fatalities, though Mathe reiterated that current intelligence refutes claims of an active serial offender.
