8-Year-Old Daughter Raised Alarm After Elizabeth Moselakgomo Went Missing in Kempton Park

GAUTENG — The family of Elizabeth Moselakgomo has confirmed they positively identified her remains on 14 September 2026, one day after the South African Police Service reported her missing in Kempton Park.

A family spokesperson addressed members of the media outside a residential property in Gauteng, confirming the identification and noting that the body would only be released once SAPS completed its post-mortem and related investigative processes. He told Newzroom Afrika that funeral arrangements are on hold pending that release.

Daughter was the first to sound the alarm

Speaking at the briefing, a relative drew particular attention to the role played by Elizabeth's eight-year-old daughter in alerting the family to her mother's disappearance.

"Tsontso had a routine. She was one of the people from work. She had a time to start jogging and a time to return home. That young lady — she's the one who actually broke the news. She noticed that it was half past six and the mother didn't return back. That's how we all received the information," the relative explained.

Psychosocial support in place for the child

Zones has since been placed under the care of a psychosocial support team, which was deployed from the time Elizabeth was first reported missing. The relative confirmed that the child is receiving the necessary emotional and psychological assistance.

Elizabeth's disappearance is linked to the discovery of four other women found in Kempton Park around the same time. SAPS has not publicly confirmed the circumstances surrounding her death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
