KZN SAPS Arrests Second Suspected Serial Rapist in Days, 36-Year-Old Linked to 14 Victims Since 2010

KWAZULU-NATAL — Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested a 36-year-old man alleged to have raped 14 women across multiple provinces over more than a decade.
The man was arrested on Sunday, 20 September 2026, in the Ncotshane area of Nongoma. The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed that the suspect will appear before the Mahlabathini Magistrate’s Court on 21 September 2026.
Suspect was already out on bail
Investigators revealed that the man was previously arrested, granted bail, and then skipped subsequent court appearances while continuing with his crime spree. He was arrested in connection with one rape, and then is alleged to have committed 13 others before he was arrested again.

His victims were predominantly women who lived alone, and he reportedly used a knife to threaten them during the assaults. He is said to have raped 14 women since 2010 in areas such as Pongola, Nongoma, Magudu, Dumbe, Mahlabathini, and Primrose in Gauteng.
He will be charged first with skipping court in 2010, after which he will be charged on the remaining rape cases.
46-year-old serial rapist arrested
His arrest comes less than a week after a 46-year-old suspected serial rapist was arrested. Police took him into custody on Thursday, 17 September 2026. He is alleged to have started his raping spree in 2014, and between that year and 2025, he allegedly targeted 14 women in Cato Manor and one woman each in Plessislaer and Taylor’s Halt.
These arrests also come amid the Ekurhuleni murders, which have further put a spotlight on the gender-based violence crisis in the country. Nine women's bodies were discovered over two months in Ekurhuleni, while a tenth body was found in Soweto on 20 September 2026.
Rape suspect nabbed after five years on the run
Briefly News reported that police arrested Tseko Moses Khumalo on 4 September 2026, after nearly five years on the run.
The Free State Operation Shanela II Provincial Tracking team tracked Khumalo to a hiding place in W-Section, Botshabelo.
An arrest warrant was formally issued for Khumalo on 2 June 2026, nearly five years after the alleged attack.
