The murder case of South African media personality Warrick Stock, widely known as DJ Warras, took another turn on 18 September 2026 when two accused appeared before the Johannesburg High Court, with the matter postponed as both scramble to sort out legal representation.
Hlengiwe Buthelezi and Victor Majola face charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with Stock's death. Buthelezi was tracked down and arrested in Msinga, KwaZulu-Natal, in early September after a period of police searches. The State alleges she passed on details of DJ Warras' vehicle and that of his partner to Majola, who is accused of playing a central role in planning the killing. Both accused maintain their innocence before the courts, and the allegations remain unproven.

Legal representation delays proceedings
The court heard that Majola's lawyer has since withdrawn from the matter, leaving him needing to secure new legal counsel. Buthelezi, meanwhile, told the court she has not had contact with her family since her arrest and requires time to consult them before deciding on representation. As a result, the case was postponed to 8 October for both accused to confirm their legal arrangements. Buthelezi had also abandoned a bail application during a brief earlier court appearance.
Shooter already behind bars
While proceedings against Buthelezi and Majola continue, the man identified as the triggerman has already been dealt with. Armando Pacula pleaded guilty and entered into a plea agreement with the State, receiving a 25-year prison sentence. He admitted to having been paid R25,000 to carry out the hit.
DJ Warras was killed on 16 December 2025 in Johannesburg's CBD. His death sent shockwaves through South Africa's entertainment and media industries. Reports indicate he was in the area in connection with work linked to an alleged hijacked building at the time of the shooting. The case now moves forward, with Buthelezi and Majola set to return before the High Court next month.
