KWAZULU-NATAL — An off-duty police officer allegedly shot and killed his partner at the Hammarsdale Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 8 October 2026. Paramedics said the officer had also been shot.

eNCA reported the incident, which unfolded at the court located west of Durban in the Hammarsdale area, KwaZulu-Natal.

What happened at Hammarsdale Court?

When ALS Paramedics arrived at the scene, they found two individuals — a male and a female — each with gunshot wounds.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was declared deceased at the scene by paramedics. She is understood to have been the officer's partner.

The male victim, believed to be in his 40s and identified as the off-duty officer, was found in critical condition. Paramedics placed him on a manual ventilator before rushing him to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

The events leading up to the shooting remain unclear at this stage. No official motive has been confirmed, and police have not yet released a formal statement detailing the circumstances.
