Oscar Pistorius appears to have settled into a quiet, largely unrecognised routine in Waterkloof, one of Pretoria's more affluent suburbs, accompanied by a small brown miniature poodle named Maggie.

Locals describe Maggie as one of the more recognisable animals in the neighbourhood. The dog rarely leaves Pistorius's side and has become something of a social buffer during his early-morning outings to nearby cafés.

Pistorius keeps a low profile in Waterkloof

According to a report by the Daily Mail, at the Lucky Bread café, where Pistorius is a regular, staff and customers say he orders the Camping Eggs, a pan-fried breakfast dish served with masala tomato. One regular described him as "a very polite customer who keeps himself to himself," adding that "his little dog gets more attention than he does" and that "most people don't recognise him."

The poodle, described by those in the area as endearing, appears to help ease any discomfort Pistorius may feel in social settings. One local noted simply:

"He's part of the family now."

Life in the suburb

The suburb of Waterkloof, known for its tree-lined streets and well-maintained properties, appears to offer Pistorius a degree of anonymity that would be difficult to maintain in more central parts of the city. Those who do recognise him describe his manner as reserved and courteous, consistent across multiple encounters at his usual morning stops.

The image that emerges from those familiar with his routine is one of deliberate ordinariness: a man making breakfast orders, walking his dog, and attracting little attention beyond the occasional curious glance at the poodle at his feet. It has been further reported that Pistorius has taken up a position with a sound engineering company.
