- The British billionaire said he "likes Erik", but the decision to keep or fire the Dutchman is out of his hands
- The former Ajax coach has overseen a dreadful start to the season, and many fans have lost their patience
Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has broken his silence on the future of Erik ten Hag.
The Man United boss is under massive pressure following a poor start to the 2024/25 season.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe extended Ten Hag's contract in the summer, but he could terminate it if his performance on the pitch continues to deteriorate.
The former Ajax manager is in his third season at the club. He led the team to the FA Cup last season, but they finished eighth in the league, Man United's worst finish in the Premier League.

What did Sir Jim Ratcliffe say about Ten Hag?
Speaking to BBC's Dan Roan, the minority owner and British billionaire said he likes the Dutchman but refused to say if he will be fired.
“I don’t want to answer that question…I like Erik. I think he’s a very good coach but at the end of the day it’s not my call, it’s the management team that’s running Manchester United that have to decide how we best run the team in many different respects," he said.
He said the decision lies on the new team running football.
"They’ve only been there…you can count it in weeks almost - they’ve not been there a long time so they need to take stock and make some sensible decisions. Our objective is very clear - we want to take Manchester United back to where it should be, and it’s not there yet, obviously - that’s very clear.”
The Red Devils face Aston Villa on Sunday, and a massive defeat could force the club to make a decision.
How have Man United performed?
The 20-time English champions have lost three league games this season, including humiliating home losses to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
They are 13th in the table with seven points from six matches. Fans have called for the Dutchman's sacking. Could Sunday be the last straw?
