Michael Masilo Modubi: Former Bafana Bafana Appointed Head Coach of European Club
Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Michael Masilo Modubi has been named head coach of Belgian outfit Turkse FC ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The 40-year-old, developed at the Transnet School of Excellence, secured a move to Chelsea FC in 2003 alongside the late Boy-Boy Mosia and Jeffrey Ntuka. However, the trio were unable to obtain work permits and were subsequently loaned to KVC Westerlo. While Mosia and Ntuka eventually returned to South Africa, Modubi remained in Belgium, spending nine years at Westerlo before later spells with Dessel Sport and Witgoor Dessel, where he retired in 2017.
Following his playing career, Modubi transitioned into youth coaching before stepping into senior management with KESK Leopoldsburg in Belgium’s third division, guiding them to the promotion play-offs prior to his departure.
According to FARPost, he has now returned to the touchline with Turkse FC, aiming to further establish his coaching trajectory in Belgium.
