Orlando Pirates have secured the return of winger Mohau Nkota on a season-long loan from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq, with the Buccaneers confirming the deal on Thursday.
The 21-year-old Kimberley-born attacker departed the club in July 2025 in a transfer reported to be worth between R36 million and R40 million, with performance-related add-ons potentially lifting the fee further. Pirates' official announcement was brief but welcoming in tone.

Nkota graduated from the Pirates academy and Diski Challenge setup before forcing his way into the senior squad during the 2024/25 campaign. His first-team debut in the Premiership came with immediate impact, as he netted twice in a 2-1 victory. He then carried that form into continental competition, scoring a brace on his CAF Champions League debut away to CR Belouizdad and later netting the decisive goal against MC Alger.

Over the course of that breakthrough season, Nkota featured in 39 matches across all competitions, contributing seven goals and multiple assists, and collected an MTN 8 winners' medal before his move to Saudi Arabia.
**Analyst Backs Loan as Career-Defining Decision**
Football analyst Uche Anuma, speaking to Briefly News in an exclusive interview, offered a detailed assessment of the loan move and what it means for the player's development.
"Nkota returning to Orlando Pirates is good for everyone, but most especially the player himself," Anuma said.
He added that Nkota's time in Saudi Arabia was hampered by limited playing time and injury setbacks before he was reintegrated into the fold by coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
"Nkota is a good talent for Bafana Bafana or him to waste in the middle east. He can earn back his place in the national team and also playing good football with the Buccaneers in the Premier Soccer League," Anuma told Briefly News.
