Orlando Pirates supporters are preparing an emotional tribute to former goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa ahead of the MTN8 Final against Mamelodi Sundowns at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 11 October 2026.
The Orlando Pirates Gauteng Supporters Structure intends to gather at Durban South Beach at around 10 am before travelling together to Meyiwa's family home in Umlazi, where they plan to present a financial donation to the family.
Fans Commit to Fundraising at Every KZN Cup Final
Prominent Pirates supporter Phillip Jwara told KickOff that the club's fanbase has made a standing commitment to raise funds for the Meyiwa family whenever Pirates contests a cup final in KwaZulu-Natal, honouring a pledge made on previous occasions.
"As Pirates supporters, we committed ourselves before to raise funds we will donate to the Meyiwa family each time our beloved club plays a cup final in KZN, as we did previously," Jwara said.
He appealed directly to Pirates fans across the country to contribute what they can afford ahead of the Saturday gathering.

"The family is aware we are coming; whatever amount we manage to raise will make a difference. It will show Senzo's father that as Pirates fans we will always be with him," Jwara added.
A Legacy That Lives on at Orlando Pirates
Meyiwa made an indelible mark on Orlando Pirates during his time at the club. He was central to the side's back-to-back treble-winning campaigns between 2010 and 2012, collecting six major trophies. His penalty saves also carried Pirates to the final of the 2013 CAF Champions League, a performance that has since become part of the club's folklore.
The goalkeeper was shot dead in October 2014. His murder trial has dragged on for years without a final verdict, a reality that continues to weigh on those closest to him and on the Pirates faithful.
Jwara acknowledged the pain that persists within the Meyiwa household.
