Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx, who currently plays for Japanese club side Kubota Spears, has teamed up with Daikin South Africa to upgrade his family home at the upmarket Meyersdal Eco Estate in Gauteng.
The collaboration was undertaken with Marx's wife, Kirsten Grant, and their two children, Kenna and Jake Justin, in mind. With the hooker spending much of the year competing abroad, the project was aimed at creating a comfortable and stable living environment for his family during his extended absences.
**Meyersdal Estate Posed Unique Installation Challenges**
According to industry publication To Build, the Meyersdal property presented significant technical hurdles. The estate enforces strict aesthetic and environmental regulations, ruling out conventional air conditioning systems that rely on bulky outdoor condensers and visible pipework. The installation therefore required a tailored approach that met both the estate's standards and the family's comfort requirements.
The home's interior reflects a deliberate approach to high-end living. A walk-in dressing room features floor-to-ceiling white wardrobes, glass display cabinets, and a large central island that serves as both storage and a visual focal point. Warm wooden flooring and woven rattan pendant lights complement the minimalist design, while a dedicated vanity area with a mirror and comfortable seating completes the suite.

**Pearl Valley Estate Next on the List**
Daikin South Africa is already preparing to carry the project forward to a second Marx property at Pearl Valley Estate, one of the most exclusive residential addresses in the Western Cape and a location well known among South African rugby players. Details of that installation have not yet been confirmed.
For Marx, the partnership reflects a practical priority: ensuring his family is well looked after while he fulfils his professional commitments on the other side of the world with Kubota Spears in Japan.
