Four years on from their Franschhoek wedding, Springbok scrumhalf Faf de Klerk and his wife Miné van Niekerk are celebrating their anniversary as a family of four, with two young daughters now at the centre of their lives.

The pair first crossed paths through mutual friends back in 2015, though the road to the altar was far from straightforward. Faf's move to English Premiership club Sale Sharks in 2017 kept the couple apart for four years, and the Covid-19 pandemic put their relationship under even greater strain. Despite those pressures, Faf and Miné stayed the course.
Faf and Miné's wedding and honeymoon
Faf popped the question in May 2022, and by October of that year, the couple had exchanged vows at La Paris Estate in Franschhoek, surrounded by family, close friends and some of Faf's Springbok teammates. The newlyweds celebrated their union with a honeymoon in the Maldives.

Life as parents
Parenthood arrived in February 2024 when the couple welcomed their first daughter, Remi-Ré. Their family expanded again in November 2025 with the birth of their second daughter, Yuke.
In September 2026, Faf offered fans a peek into home life by posting photographs of Miné with their two girls on Instagram. His caption read simply, "Our little team," and the post drew a warm response from supporters.
Away from nappies and school runs, Faf has also been navigating a new phase of his rugby career. After leaving Japan's Yokohama Canon Eagles, he signed a two-year deal with the Toyota Cheetahs, with the move confirmed in April 2026.
The Bloemfontein-based side have since seen him return to the starting XV during the 2026 Currie Cup season. It is a fresh challenge for a player who has already claimed back-to-back Rugby World Cup winners' medals with the Springboks, in 2019 and 2023.
For Faf and Miné, though, the milestones that matter most right now are the ones happening at home.
