The ANCWL has demanded that the party's leadership puts Bathabile Dlamini back in government.

The Sowetan reports that the league had asked President Cyril Ramaphosa when he would be bringing Dlamini back.

Ramaphosa had opted not to allow the former minister to remain in his Cabinet. Those who failed to make the cut were promised redeployment, and now the Women's League wants Ramaphosa to act on his words.

This comes as Dlamini herself threatened to form a feminist splinter party if the state failed to protect women in power:

"... if we are not careful, in the near future, the very women that have swelled the ranks of the ANC are going to form their [own] organisation and they will not care if it's a feminist organisation; as long as it will meet their demands they will join it."

Briefly.co.za reported that the former minister's comments came as the ANC elected to fire embattled Durban mayor Zandile Gumede for incompetence.
