United States president Donald Trump has declared a state of emergency in Washington DC.

The declaration, according to Yahoo News, was issued on Monday, January 11, over security reports of possible plots to attack the Capitol building ahead of Joe Biden’s inauguration scheduled for January 20.

Trump’s declaration will enable the federal authorities to coordinate with local authorities in providing assistance if any emergency occurs.

Daily Mail reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has alerted its agents about likely plans by groups to hold uprisings at capitols in all 50 states ahead of Inauguration Day, particularly if Trump is removed from office before Biden enters the White House.

According to the warning by the FBI in an internal memo, a group has called for the storming of state, local, and federal government buildings, as well as courthouses if Trump is removed from office.

Both federal and state authorities are preparing for more violence after the recent attack on the Capitol building which left five people dead.

Security reports stated that right-wing extremists are encouraging marches and protests ahead of the inauguration day.

In related news, Briefly.co.za reported that outgoing United States (US) President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka, has plans to attend Democrat Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20, to the chagrin of his father.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Ivanka will attend the ceremony to mark the commencement of Biden's new four-year term as president of the United States, to save her political career.

"Ivanka is worried that her promising political career is in jeopardy and she's doing whatever she can to save her reputation," a source intimated to the publication.
