The South African Police Service published the arrests on Facebook and members of the public took to the comments section to react:

Reagan Alberto Kajani:

"South African Police Service they need to put food down on the table for their children. What if your job became overnight illegal, how would you have paid your house, car, electricity, water, rates and tax, food for your family, washing powder for your clothes, your child's 21'st, your child's wedding, life insurance, funeral cover, petrol for your son's car, well you get the picture!!! "
"Go on a 3-month unpaid leave and show us how you cope for just 3 months with no income at all! Go catch the farm murderer, the rape monster, the drug dealers, the people in government stealing the country's money!"

Lindani Mpungose:

"Only if those were suspects of human trafficking and crime I would've clapped hands for. You're busy with useless things while crc law-breakers are free out there. Try to focus on serious matters, not these ones, they didn't kill nor stole anything or even trafficked any being."

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that the authorities have confirmed that a criminal case has been opened against one of their own.

The charges, being drunk in public in police uniform, were pressed against the man after a video of the ordeal went viral.

One of the people gathered around the allegedly drunk and mostly passed out officer claims in the video that the cop is sleeping right 'in front of the police station'.
