NORTH WEST — South African police in Moeka Vuma, near Makapanstad, are searching for a 41-year-old man suspected of killing three people whose bodies were discovered at a residential property on Sunday morning.

According to the South African Police Service, the deceased have been identified as Moipone Lefoka, her sister Esther Lefoka, and Esther's boyfriend, Tshepo Molekwa. According to police, the three were last seen together at Molekwa's property before their bodies were found, each bearing fatal injuries consistent with blows from a spade.

Suspect flees, leaves phone behind

The primary suspect, James Mohajane, had left the scene before law enforcement arrived. However, investigators found a critical lead: his mobile phone, which was recovered at the property and is now central to the ongoing investigation. National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the motive behind the killings has not yet been established and remains under active investigation. Police have urged members of the public not to approach Mohajane directly if he is spotted, cautioning that any confrontation could be dangerous.
