US Inauguration: Mike Pence Shuns Trump’s Farewell Celebration

A report has emerged that Vice President Mike Pence did not make any plan to attend the farewell ceremonies of the outgoing president, Donald Trump.

According to CNN, a source said Pence said his final goodbye to President Trump on Tuesday, January 19.

The report claimed the vice-resident will not be at the White House when the president departs, nor is he expected to attend the ceremony at Joint Base Andrews before Trump leaves for Florida.

However, the vice-president has made plans to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration. The report claimed Pence will fly to Indiana after the ceremony.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has finally departed the White House for the last time. He left for Joint Base Andrews, for a short farewell ceremony at the base before one last presidential flight to Palm Beach.

The soon to be former president thanked reporters at the White House and said it had been the 'honour of a lifetime' to serve as president. Trump is the first president since 1869 to snub his successor's inauguration.

In another report, Briefly.co.za reported that Melania Trump snubbed incoming Jill Biden and denied her White House tour. Outgoing United States First Lady Melania Trump has broken an old tradition after she snubbed incoming First Lady Jill Biden and denied her a tour of the White House ahead of her husband Joe Biden's inauguration as president-elect.

According to the Daily Mail, Jill was yet to be be contacted by Melania and in the process she became the modern first lady not to invite her successor for a familiarisation tour of the White House.

Trump at the same time has not extended the invitation to Biden for a meeting to the oval office.

Briefly.co.za previously reported that Joe Biden, the US President was congratulated by world leaders on his win. Leaders from all around the world have congratulated Democrat Joe Biden after he was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

This was after the tumultuous reign of Donald Trump, which endured for four years. The political leaders from different parts of the world sent encouraging congratulatory messages to Joe Biden for becoming the president of the United States.
