Her husband is the prime suspect and police have launched a manhunt for him, the former policeman has been on the run since Wednesday.

Ratselane's attack has brought gender-based violence back into the spotlight and sparked a debate online.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Lesedi FM anchor Dimakatso Ratselane was brutally attacked and is in critical condition in Bloemfontein Hospital after being stabbed multiple times.

Police have launched a manhunt for Ratselane's husband who is a suspect in the investigation.

Her family is struggling to deal with the violent attack and Ratselane's children have not been told yet.

Free State premier, Sisi Ntombela, said that the shocking attack is a violent reminder of the level of gender-based violence in the country according to SABC News.

In other news, Primedia Broadcasting has parted ways with DJ Fresh and Euphonik, the media company confirmed in a statement on Wednesday night, 10 February.

DJ Fresh and Euphonik trended on social media a few weeks back after a woman accused them of drugging her and sexually assaulting her while she was still a student some years back.

Both the musician's names have been trending on Twitter since the news broke that Primedia has decided to release the two stars from their contracts.

In the statement, Primedia Broadcasting said:

"After careful consideration of the events of the last few weeks, the company has decided to release DJ Fresh and Euphonik from their contracts."
