Week of Horror: More Shootings in Mitchell's Plain Leave 4 Dead

There has been another shooting in Mitchell's Plain, Cape Town. Over the weekend four men were shot and killed while another was wounded. The men were aged between 30 and 64.
The shooting comes just days after five teenagers were shot, two of whom were killed. The two who succumbed to their injuries were a 13-year-old and an 18-year-old boy and the three wounded teenagers were aged between 14 and 18.
SAPS have now confirmed that a task team has been set up. They have also appealed to the community to work with authorities by coming forward with any information that could lead to arrests. No arrests had been made at the time of this report.
A report by IOL stated that the chairperson of the Cape Flats Safety Forum, Abie Isaacs, said on Sunday that there had been a rapid increase in shootings in the area over the previous 92 hours, adding that there is 'urban terror' in the Cape Flats.
EWN reported that a seven-year-old girl was caught in gang-crossfire on the same night and that a 15-year-old had been killed after being struck by bullets while sitting outside her house days before.
In other crime-related news, Briefly.co.za recently reported that President Cyril Ramaphosa stepped in to obtain recently declassified documents linked to an alleged attempt to loot the SAPS Crime Intelligence of R45 million.
The documents relate to an alleged attempt to defraud the SA Police Service Crime Intelligence secret fund of R45 million. This attempt had allegedly been made ahead of the ANC's elective conference at NASREC in 2017, which ultimately saw Ramaphosa emerging as the party's leader.
News24 reports that Police Minister Bheki Cele had written to the National Commissioner of Police Khehla Sitole noting a judgment by the Pretoria High Court that communication from the presidency had been received over the ordeal.
The minister says that he had not been briefed on the outcome and implications of the judgment for the SAPS.
