Japan inflation hits four percent in December
Japan's consumer prices rose four percent in December from a year earlier, a level not seen since December 1981, fuelled in part by higher energy bills, government data showed Friday. Rises in electricity and gas bills, as well as telecommunication fees and price hikes for a range of processed foods contributed to the December acceleration, the government data showed.
Boeing ordered to face MAX victims' families in US court
A US federal judge on Thursday ordered Boeing to appear in court next week to face family members of those killed in crashes of the 737 MAX who are challenging the aviation giant's prior government settlement. Two crashes of Boeing planes in October 2018 and March 2019 resulted in 346 fatalities and led to a global grounding of the MAX model for more than a year and a half.

US streaming giant Netflix on Thursday said it ended last year with more than 230 million global subscribers, beating analysts' expectations as hits such as "Wednesday" and "Harry & Meghan" enticed new viewers. US strengthens organic food protocols to counter fraud
The US Department of Agriculture on Thursday unveiled new rules to strengthen oversight of the "organic" label on food, after some significant fraud cases. In a Federal Register notice outlining the rule, the USDA cited several cases of fraud involving organic food.
