Microsoft to create 36,000 data centre jobs in Qatar
Technology giant Microsoft announced Wednesday it will create 36,000 jobs in Qatar to boost the Gulf state's efforts to move away from reliance on its oil and gas industry. "We are adding more than $18 billion to the economy over the next five years and we are also adding more than 36,000 new jobs over the next five years," she said at a launch ceremony.

Sudanese security forces killed a protester on Wednesday when thousands of people rallied in the capital Khartoum against military rule, medics said. The unidentified demonstrator was killed after suffering "a head injury by a tear gas canister... and then was run over" by security forces during protests, the Central Committee of Sudan Doctors said.
