However, during his court appearance, he denied any involvement in the murder, arguing that he was nowhere near the crime scene. Daily Sun reports that through his affidavit, Molefe accused the state of building a case against him through a mere WhatsApp text, which vaguely stated, "do not involve me at all!"

He also admitted to being friends with accused number one, who did not apply for bail, saying they became friends through mutual friends and shared interests.

However, the state hit back, saying they have evidence that placed all of the accused men near the crime scenes and noted how accused number one made several calls to accused number four after the murders took place.

Molefe's bail outcome will be heard on Wednesday, 20 August 2025.

DJ Sumbody's family denied the drug involvement allegations, claiming that they are part of a smear campaign.

“We found out over the weekend that the fightback is beginning. These syndicates are very connected. We’ve noticed that there have been speculative reports. There have been demeaning reports trying to indicate that DJ Sumbody may be connected with some or other underworld activity, and of course, we dismiss it,” Chad Thomas, the Sefoka family spokesperson said.
