Sizwe Dhlomo endorsed Lerato Mvelase's impactful speech, calling out Gayton McKenzie and the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.

The actress spoke at the late Nandi Nyembe's memorial service on Thursday, 28 August 2025, criticising the Minister and his department for constantly feeding creatives lies and empty promises.

Mvelase went on to send a scathing message to McKenzie, telling him that his department is no longer welcome to speak at funerals and memorials until they change the policies that actors have been crying over for years on end:

"Please do tell the Minister that going forward, artists will no longer allow the department to come celebrate with us. We have been sold a dream that will never be realised."

Responding to her message in a Twitter (X) post on 28 August was Sizwe Dhlomo, who was not only moved by the powerful speech but also endorsed it.

The radio presenter, who has remained vocal about his distaste for the Minister, said McKenzie was deserving of such treatment:

"This is the treatment he should receive everywhere he goes!"

This comes after the Minister was accused of lying about donating money to help Mam Nandi while she was still alive. Briefly News reports that, like the visit he promised, the money apparently never reached the late actress.

As South Africa's hate for the McKenzie intensifies, many have taken to social media to voice their concerns and call for his removal from his position.

Social media weighs in on Sizwe Dhlomo's message

Followers said Gayton McKenzie deserved to be cancelled, and brought up the racist social media posts, saying he did not deserve to be in power. Read some of their comments below:

nxups said:

"He must never find peace. Stive Biko makes this point that we should reject racism as it appears because it is meant to hurt you at that point. When you let it pass and oppose it later, it would have gained its way. When we wait for institutions, racism would have gained its way."

lavidaNOTA redirected his anger to Cyril Ramaphosa:

"I’m saving all the smoke for Cyril. Truly a cruel, malevolent leader!"

"Agreed, Dinangwe. I love Sizwe's uncompromising attitude towards that racist."

"Even those corrupt ANC crooks who are busy sending their condolences to Tshidi Madia's family must go to the nearest cliff and jump."
