South Africa's beloved comedian Mpho "Popps" Modikoane has been confirmed as the host of this year's Content Creator Awards, set to take place on Saturday, 17 October 2026 at The Galleria in Sandton.
The annual awards, which were first launched in 2022, return for another highly anticipated edition featuring 20 categories that shine a spotlight on the country's most compelling digital voices.
Mpho Popps on Celebrating SA's Digital Talent
Popps made no secret of his excitement about the hosting gig, sharing his thoughts on what the night means for South Africa's growing creator community.

"I am excited to host the Content Creator Awards this year. Content creators are literally driving culture right now. They keep us laughing, informed, and inspired every single day on our phones. To be on stage celebrating the brilliant minds behind South Africa's best digital content, with Samsung backing the vision, is going to be electric."
The comedian and media personality also reflected on the broader significance of the occasion for local talent. He boasted about the emerging talent in Mzansi and said it is refreshing to see them shine.

Why Popps Is the Right Choice for the Night
Manuela Dias de Deus, Founder of the Content Creator Awards and Founder of One-eyed Jack, explained why Popps stood out as the natural choice to lead the evening.
"We wanted a host who could bring real energy and personality to the awards," she said, adding that his charisma and long-running career in entertainment made him the perfect fit to bring the event to life.
With Samsung among the backers and 20 competitive categories on the table, the 2026 ceremony looks set to be the most ambitious edition of the awards to date.
Content Creator Awards launch free creator labs
In a presser exclusively shared with Briefly News journalist Moroba Maepa, the Content Creator Awards are set to introduce two free Creator Labs designed to educate, connect and equip creators with practical skills for building sustainable careers in the industry.
As a registered non-profit organisation, the awards reinvest sponsorship and partnership revenue into initiatives that create opportunities for creators and contribute to the development of the broader creator economy. The Creator Labs form part of this ongoing commitment, bringing creators together with leading platforms, brands, agencies and industry experts ahead of this year’s awards.
The first Creator Lab will take place on 2 September at Workshop17 in Sandton, followed by a second session on 11 September at Workshop17 at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
Both workshops will provide creators with access to practical insights across areas including content monetisation, technology, creativity, industry trends and the commercial opportunities available to creators.
Pamela Mtanga to host awards
In a previous report from Briefly News, Pamela Mtanga will take the stage alongside comedian Vafa Naraghi as co-host of the 2026 NACA Awards.
The prestigious ceremony is set to take place at Sun City Resort on Saturday, 21 August 2026.
