Things went sideways on the set of Podcast and Chill before the cameras even got rolling properly. In what has quickly become one of the most talked-about blunders in the show's history, MacG and Sol Phenduka sat down with a man on their 8 October 2026 episode - only to discover, mid-interview, that he was not their guest.

The man, dressed in a beige suit and leopard-print shirt, turned out to be a Mr Maleka, who was at the studio for an entirely different interview.

It was he who broke the news, leaning over to Sol and quietly noting that "The interview is wrong." Phenduka was quick to admit that something had already felt off.

"I was about to say, this is not the Benjy Maponya I see on social media," he said.

A visibly baffled MacG looked up at his crew for answers before turning to the man seated between him and Sol and asking plainly, "So who are you then?" The studio erupted in laughter as the full scale of the mix-up sank in. Sol had already pulled out his phone to show MacG a photo of their actual guest - Benjamin "Benjy" Maponya.

Benjy Maponya drops explosive allegations

The episode had been lined up to feature businessman Benjamin "Benjy" Maponya, who was set to address a bitter and high-stakes falling-out with his former business partner and friend Solomon "MySol" Madibela. Rather than let the confusion derail the day, the crew brushed off the blunder, gave Mr Maleka a moment on the couch, and then brought out Maponya as planned.

Once seated, Maponya did not hold back. He alleged that MySol had betrayed him, freezing his income and pushing him out of their shared N4 Cluster mining operation.

He claimed the financial exclusion was so severe that he missed bond repayments on his Hartebeespoort home and ultimately lost the property. He also alleged that the situation had left him genuinely fearful for his family's safety.

The episode did not stay on air for long without legal consequences. MySol moved swiftly after the allegations spread, serving both Maponya and the Podcast and Chill Network with a court interdict. Under the order, the Network is barred from publishing, broadcasting, streaming, or distributing the contested statements, as well as any allegations linking MySol to criminal activity.
