Ekurhuleni's Chief Financial Officer Kagiso Lerutla has reportedly taken reality TV personality Inno Morolong to court, seeking an urgent interdict over a string of Instagram posts he claims are defamatory and damaging to his professional reputation.

According to a Buzzlive News report, Lerutla filed an urgent court application asking the court to declare specific statements published on Morolong's Instagram account unlawful and defamatory, provided the evidence confirms the allegations are false. He is also asking the court to bar her from republishing the disputed content and to have the existing posts taken down.

What the Instagram posts allegedly claimed

The posts at the centre of the dispute reportedly appeared on or around 21 October 2026. One featured a collage with Lerutla's photograph alongside images of two women, with a caption referencing an online conflict tied to his marital circumstances and private relationships. A separate Instagram story allegedly included a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation in which Morolong accused Lerutla of calling and harassing her, threatening her with legal action, and paying bloggers to target another person.

Lerutla, who was romantically linked to socialites Sithelo Shozi, Cyan Boujee and MaWhoo, has disputed all of these claims. In his founding affidavit, he argues that being accused of secretly funding bloggers to damage someone's reputation seriously undermines his standing as a senior public official.

"An allegation that I secretly finance bloggers to damage another person's reputation is capable of suggesting dishonest, manipulative or improper conduct," he stated.

What Lerutla is asking the court to order

Court papers indicate that screenshots of the disputed posts showed roughly 16,200 likes, 1,204 comments and 4,647 shares at the time they were captured.

His legal team sent Morolong a cease-and-desist letter on 21 October 2026, giving her until 4 pm that day to remove the content and provide written undertakings. He argues that the rapid spread of social media content justifies urgent court intervention.

Should the court grant the order, Morolong would be required to remove the identified posts within 12 hours of being served, refrain from republishing the allegations, and be prohibited from arranging for others to post the same claims on her behalf. Lerutla has also asked that she preserve the original electronic files and metadata related to the posts.

He clarified that he is not seeking to suppress lawful reporting, fair comment, or freedom of speech protected under freedom of expression provisions.
