A massive Kellogg’s Corn Flakes advertising bowl became the unlikely star of Cape Town’s social media on 12 August 2026, after strong winds reportedly toppled it from a shipping container in Nyanga.

Rather than leaving the oversized steel prop where it fell, locals took matters into their own hands and began dragging it through the streets, turning it into a moving spectacle that no one could quite keep track of.

Cape Town TikToker Nokhanyo Mabhanqo Singiselo captured the bowl on its late-night journey, sharing the clip on TikTok with the caption: “Here is the famous bowl from Nyanga, it has returned to Khayelitsha heading to NY5, does anyone know where it is?”

What made the moment even funnier for many was the idea that a brand as big as Kellogg’s had seemingly missed its own viral moment. The irony of the bowl becoming Cape Town’s most-talked-about travelling landmark was not lost on anyone online.
