KWAZULU-NATAL - A second man has been arrested by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) in connection with a sex trafficking operation that has been under investigation since 2022.
Authorities confirmed that further arrests are anticipated following the 48-year-old suspect's surrender to officers at the Durban North Police Station on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
He is expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate's Court on Friday, facing charges of trafficking in persons, kidnapping and sexual assault — the same charges brought against a 65-year-old Durban businessman who was arrested earlier this week and is believed to be the mastermind behind the operation.

2022 rescue that sparked the investigation
The charges stem from a 2022 incident in which four young women from Eldorado Park, Johannesburg, were lured to Durban under the pretence of legitimate employment. The women were transported to an upmarket property in Durban North, where they were forced into sexual exploitation before being rescued by police.
The businessman arrested earlier this week faces additional charges, including cybercrimes, and remains in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for 25 August 2026.
