PL Steel Services is mourning the loss of their receptionist, Jaydin Magerman, who was shot dead on the night of 8 August 2026 after being caught in the crossfire between a gang and police.

The Johannesburg-based steel company shared the devastating news on Facebook on 9 August 2026, South Africa's Women's Day, alongside a memorial card bearing her name and the years 1999 to 2026. Jaydin was just 27 years old.

The company's post described her as "a beloved colleague, a dedicated teammate and a cherished friend," adding that her presence had brought light to their workplace. They asked followers to pray for her family. The company wrote:

A community left heartbroken

The post drew an outpouring of condolences from across South Africa, including a message from a family member who confirmed the tribute had reached those closest to Jaydin.
