A young girl's love letter to South Africa is still stopping people in their tracks, two years after it was first filmed.
Mya, featured on the page Mya in Wild Land, recorded the clip during Heritage Month in a series of outdoor settings, including a game vehicle, a riverbank at dusk and an evening braai. Speaking directly to camera, she celebrated South Africa's 12 official languages, including sign language, its two oceans, its bushveld, deserts and forests, and its extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna. She also gave a proud shoutout to the Springboks, the national animal and four-time Rugby World Cup champions.
Briefly News reached out to her mother, Chanyn-Lee, who said the idea came from a simple desire to do something meaningful for Heritage Day.
"We wanted to celebrate not only the incredible nature that surrounds her, but also the people she loves so deeply. Mya has always had such a big heart and an incredible love for people. She sees beauty in everyone, and that love and sincerity came through so naturally in the video."

A message that grew beyond expectations
Chanyn-Lee shared the video again in September 2026 as a throwback, noting how much Mya had grown alongside her love for the country. What surprised the family most was how far the clip had travelled. She said:
"The response has been overwhelming in the most beautiful way, and the comments have been incredibly inspiring to read."
She added that the video had reminded her just how deeply proud South Africans are of their country.
"If Mya's little message can play even a small part in reminding people of that... and bringing a little more love and pride to our beautiful country, then we feel truly honoured."
Mya ended her video the same way her family signs off every post: Stay wild.
