The dramatic moment was captured on video and shared by content creator @Bafana Badi Content on 14 September 2025, quickly going viral across social media platforms.
The footage shows the terrifying moment when strong winds began lifting the wedding tent, causing glass doors to blow off and the entire structure to rise into the air. Guests can be seen running away as the tent crashes down completely, while debris flies around the venue. Surprisingly, a smaller tent next to the destroyed one remained perfectly intact despite the severe wind that blew heavily.

How to secure tents against strong winds
According to the Skyline Tent Company, proper tent security requires several important steps to prevent disasters like this wedding incident. Choosing commercial-grade canopy tents with steel frames instead of plastic provides much better stability against severe weather conditions. Heavy-duty stakes and quality tie-outs help distribute wind pressure effectively across the tent structure.
Positioning tents in areas with natural windbreaks like trees or buildings can significantly reduce direct wind exposure. Event hosts should always check weather forecasts and consider using concrete blocks or sandbags for additional anchoring. Regular inspection of tent components ensures all parts remain secure and functional, especially before important events like weddings.
