Not every wedding guest sees what really happens behind the curtain. Zandri Van Zyl, a Joburg-based vlogger and bridesmaid, gave her 32,100 followers a raw and heartfelt look at the preparations that went into the wedding of UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis and his bride Vasti Spiller on Saturday, 10 October 2026, at the La Paris Estate in Franschhoek.
The video, posted on her TikTok account @life.with.zee_ and captioned "Mini wedding vlog (bridesmaid's superbowl edition)," began the night before the ceremony. At 11 PM, Zandri was still up, ironing her dress and practising the bridesmaid dance on her phone. She described herself as emotionally wired, admitting she already knew tears were coming. Vasti had been by her side through some of her toughest seasons, and that bond clearly weighed on her heart.
The morning rush before the big day
The following morning, Zandri was up early, face mask on and suitcase packed, heading to the venue before most guests had even woken up. She laughed about walking through the garage in Franschhoek wearing a face mask, joking that it was not the kind of thing that would raise eyebrows in Johannesburg. When she arrived, she found Vasti getting ready with her own face mask on too, and the two shared a good laugh before the real work began.

From that point, Zandri spent the morning running around capturing photos for Vasti on her phone, feet aching, fuelled by a Red Bull and the occasional cheese puff. The vlog then moved into the ceremony itself, showing the bridesmaids performing their choreographed dance for the groom, a touching father-daughter dance, and games played with the couple during the reception.
Vasti wore a custom gown by Anél Botha for the ceremony before changing into a pearl-and-sequin Amara Bespoke reception dress with a white feather boa. Du Plessis began the day in a Frank Bespoke tuxedo before switching to a cream suit. Celebrated Afrikaans artists Bobby van Jaarsveld, Karlien van Jaarsveld, and Ricus Nel performed live. Guests included former Springbok captain Victor Matfield and actress Liza Nel.
The couple's story began at CIT Boxing Gym in Pretoria in 2023, where Vasti worked as a boxing coach and Du Plessis trained. They got engaged on 14 January 2025, during his 31st birthday.
