South African UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis and his new wife, Vasti Spiller, celebrated their wedding reception at La Paris Estate in the Cape Winelands on Saturday, 10 October 2026. The event, widely dubbed the "wedding of the year," drew close family, friends, and local celebrities for what guests called a spectacular evening.

The couple's story began at the CIT Boxing Studio in Pretoria in 2023, where Dricus had trained throughout his professional MMA career and Vasti had joined to learn boxing and transition into coaching. After crossing paths between their respective training sessions, the two went for coffee, and their relationship went public in July 2023. Dricus proposed on 14 January 2025, his 31st birthday, in front of close friends and family.

Vasti planned it all herself

What made the wedding particularly remarkable was that Vasti, a professional photographer and owner of Baruch Photography, handled every detail of the planning herself. Dricus credited her sharp eye for style and aesthetics as the reason she was perfectly placed to design the entire event without outside help.

The result was a seamless transition between two distinct visual worlds. For the ceremony in the scenic Paarl vineyards, Vasti wore a dramatic gown with a long train by designer Anel Botha, while Dricus dressed in a classic black tuxedo. By the time the reception got underway, both had changed into a coordinated cream-and-white palette. Vasti stepped into a glittering pearl-and-sequin gown by Amara Bespoke, and Dricus matched her in a cream blazer.

A night to remember

The venue featured deep red velvet draping, crystal chandeliers, candlelit tables, and marble flooring. Guests watched the couple cut into a table-length white cake decorated with fresh strawberries, raspberries, and macaroons. Live performances by South African artists Ricus Nel and Bobby van Jaarsveld kept the energy high well into the evening.
