SOUTH AFRICA — The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that social grant payments for November 2026 will continue without interruption, despite adjustments made to its usual payment calendar.
The schedule changes were introduced specifically to prevent the Local Government Elections, set for 4 November 2026, from interfering with beneficiaries' access to their monthly grants. SASSA spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi stated that the agency revised its annual timetable as soon as the election date was formally announced, in order to ensure smooth operations at all payout points across the country.
November 2026 revised payment dates
Under the updated schedule, the Older Persons Grant will be paid on Friday, 30 October 2026, bringing it forward ahead of the election period. The Disability Grant follows on Monday, 2 November 2026, while Children's Grants, including Child Support Grants, are scheduled for Tuesday, 3 November 2026. Grants currently under review will be processed on Thursday, 5 November 2026, the day after the election.

Letsatsi noted that while SASSA publishes its full annual payment schedule at the start of each financial year, the confirmation of the election date triggered an immediate review to protect recipients from any logistical disruption linked to voting day activities.
What beneficiaries need to know
The agency urged beneficiaries to take note of the revised dates and plan accordingly. Collection methods remain unchanged, and recipients are advised to visit their usual payout points within their designated grant payment window.
SASSA's decision to bring several payment dates forward reflects the agency's stated commitment to ensuring that millions of South Africans who depend on social grants are not disadvantaged during the election period. The grants affected cover some of the country's most vulnerable populations, including elderly citizens, people living with disabilities, and caregivers of young children.
