‘You’re a Legend’: Stacey-Lee May Stuns Crowd Spinning Massive Truck in Instagram Video

Stacey-Lee May did not just show up at the GAS Motor Show International. She showed off. The Johannesburg-born spinner, known as Africa’s only female Monster Energy athlete, set the crowd alight when she got behind the wheel of a Kris Freight Logistics semi-truck and put it into a spin.
The moment was captured on Instagram on 15 June and quickly caught fire online, with viewers stunned to see a woman commanding a vehicle that size with that level of skill.
The Gas Motorshow International 2026 main event took place on June 13–14, 2026, at Suncoast, Durban. It featured high-end car displays, international guests like Sung Kang from Fast & Furious, national tour stops in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and festival entertainment.

From high school halls to Monster Energy
May’s relationship with motorsport began long before the crowds and sponsorships. Born on 26 July 1996, she attended her first spin show at five years old. When bullying in high school threatened to break her confidence, her father turned to motorsport as the solution. He believed the sport would help her grow a backbone, and it did.

She started spinning professionally in 2014 and landed her first advertising deal with Cell C in 2015. From there, she built a career as a spinner, drifter and stunt driver, eventually becoming the only woman in Africa to hold a Monster Energy sponsorship. She also graduated from Unisa and launched her own logistics company along the way.
