KWAZULU-NATAL – At least two people, including a minor, have been killed in a shooting in Wentworth, Durban.

The victims were among a group of eight people who came under fire from a group of armed individuals. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

At least four of the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital following the shooting.

Investigations are underway into the shooting

Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), including members of the KwaZulu-Natal Anti-Gang Unit (AGU), are currently at the scene, as investigations get underway into the tragedy.

According to eNCA’s Dasen Thathiah, who spoke to residents, the group were sitting on a stairwell in Hime Street, Wentworth, when they came under fire by a group carrying handguns.

The group scattered into the flats nearby, but were chased by the suspects, who fled shortly afterwards. Residents also told eNCA that there have been several shootings of late in the area.
