GAUTENG - Jamal Meyer has made his first appearance in court in connection with a fatal shooting in Reiger Park, Boksburg, that claimed four lives earlier this month.
The 24-year-old made his first appearance before the Boksburg Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, following his arrest on 16 August 2026. He has been linked to the deadly shooting which left two civilians and two members of the Anti-Gang Unit dead.

Meyer will join 23-year-old Regan Cheslyn Collis, who had already appeared in court the previous week in relation to the same case.

Meyer remanded into custody
After a brief appearance, the matter was postponed to 25 August 2026 to allow for a formal bail application. Meyer will appear alongside Collis on that day. Collis remains in custody at Modderbee Prison, where he is being held for security reasons.
The National Prosecuting Authority has stated that it remains committed to working alongside SAPS and other law enforcement agencies to ensure accountability for the offences.
Meyer was arrested following a joint/intensive tracing operation involving the Hawks (Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation), the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department, the Anti-Gang Unit, and the Flying Squad, based on information from the Reiger Park community.
