SOUTH AFRICA — Suspended Crime Intelligence Deputy Major-General Feroz Khan has been formally summoned to appear before the Madlanga Commission on 1 September, though serious doubts remain over whether he will be well enough to attend.

Khan's legal team received a Rule 10.6 notice, which sets out a range of issues he is required to answer before the commission. Among the matters cited are his relationship with former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Andrea Johnson and an assault case brought against him by a crime intelligence officer.

Shooting casts doubt over Khan's attendance

Whether Khan will be present on 1 September is far from certain. The suspended police general was hospitalised shortly before a previously scheduled commission appearance, following what he described as an assassination attempt outside his Houghton home on 28 June 2026.

Khan's family confirmed that he has since been discharged from hospital and is continuing his recovery at an undisclosed facility. The extent of his injuries and his current condition have not been detailed publicly, leaving his ability to testify next month in question.
