WESTERN CAPE - President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially objected to the appointment of Advocate Thandazani Madonsela SC as the evidence leader of Parliament's Section 89 Impeachment Inquiry Committee.
Chairperson of the committee, Makashile Gana, confirmed that they had received a formal objection from the President’s office on 18 August 2026. Ramaphosa’s objection centres on concerns about a potential conflict of interest, linked to Advocate Madonsela's prior legal work for the African National Congress on Section 89-related matters.
