Woolworths Opens First Food Emporium in Fourways, Shows It Off in TikTok Video

Woolworths opened its first Gauteng Food Emporium at Dainfern Square in Fourways, Johannesburg, on 27 August 2026. The retailer launched the flagship store as part of its bigger premium food strategy.

Woolworths shared a TikTok video on the same day showing off the new store’s look and feel. The clip shows speciality counters and new displays set up throughout the emporium.

What shoppers can find inside

The Dainfern Square store features a refreshed florist stocked with fresh seasonal blooms and floral arrangements. It also includes a What’s Cooking Bar where shoppers can taste products and get recipe ideas. An expanded bakery offers freshly baked artisanal bread and pastries every day.

Dedicated fishmonger and butcher counters are staffed by trained experts who give advice. A specialist cheese counter stocks a wide range of local and imported cheeses. A sushi counter prepares fresh sushi for customers on site daily. An elevated pantry carries premium local and international pantry favourites too.

According to a report by BusinessTech, this is Woolworths’ second Food Emporium after the first store opened in Durbanville, Cape Town, back in 2025. The group said the new Fourways branch marks the next chapter in its premium food journey.

Dainfern Square sits on the corner of William Nicol Drive and Broadacres Drive in Fourways. The area is known for its busy shopping centres and growing residential estates nearby.

In the report, Woolworths Food CEO Chan Pillay said customers want more than convenience from their grocery stores. Pillay said shoppers want quality they trust, greater choice and fresh meal ideas. He said the Food Emporium brings all of that together under one roof for shoppers. Pillay added the format reflects ongoing investment in products, innovation and quality standards.
