A chapter is closing for one of South Africa’s most beloved holiday destinations. Forever Resorts South Africa, the company behind the iconic Warmbaths resort in Bela Bela, Limpopo, is being sold to a company called Benus Trade and Invest after the Competition Commission gave the deal its stamp of approval.
The acquisition marks a significant ownership shift for a portfolio that stretches across the country. Beyond Warmbaths, Forever Resorts operates nine resort properties, three lodges, and several other sites, including destinations near Plettenberg Bay and the Gariep Dam in the Free State.
Warmbaths: A getaway built on natural hot springs
Situated just north of Gauteng, Warmbaths has long been a favourite escape for families looking for a break from city life. The resort draws its name from the natural hot springs found in Bela Bela, which produce up to 22,000 litres of water per hour at 53 degrees Celsius.

Accommodation options range from two-bedroom chalets to hotel rooms, with prices shifting by season. A chalet can cost between R1,660 during low season and up to R3,470 per night at peak times, while hotel rooms follow a similar sliding scale. Day visitors are also welcomed on select dates throughout the year.
The resort offers a hydro and spa, a conference centre, and children’s play areas complete with water slides. For those looking for more excitement, paid activities include ziplining, trampolining, and ATV rides.

According to a report by BusinessTech, the Competition Commission recommended that the Competition Tribunal approve the transaction without any conditions attached.
“The Commission has recommended that the Tribunal approve the proposed transactions where Benus intends to acquire Forever Resorts SA, without conditions,” the commission stated.
Benus Trade and Invest has a limited public profile but shares directors with Community Investment Holdings (CIH). The commission described Benus as “a conglomerate operating in various markets including healthcare, information, communication and technology, power and energy, mining, logistics and infrastructure.”
