MOKOPANE —Mahwelereng law enforcement officers have initiated a formal inquiry into the disappearance of a local health worker, focusing their efforts on tracing his final known movements and vehicle.

According to the South African Police Service, the investigation centers on 61-year-old hospital staff member Rega Mohammed Tavangar. He was last seen driving a white Landwind crossover, registration KV3VM GP, dressed in dark footwear, grey pants, and a brown top.

According to police accounts, Tavangar parted ways with his partner at her lodgings on the evening of 27 August. Financial transactions recorded shortly after midnight showed funds transferred to her account, followed by a brief phone exchange at 06:00 concerning a misplaced wallet. He proposed sending the item via her child to the local medical staff residence, but all subsequent calls went unanswered as his mobile devices went offline.

Mahwelereng SAPS tracks missing health worker

Staff at the facility alerted authorities six days later when Tavangar failed to show up for scheduled shifts on 3 September. A similar case occurred when a police officer went missing in the Free State.

Provincial spokesperson Sergeant Maphure Manamela noted that detectives are following all available leads to piece together the events surrounding his sudden disappearance.
