During the October international break, Man United's hierarchy, led by owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, held a six-hour meeting to discuss the club's state.

However, Ten Hag kept his job, a disappointing outcome for many fans who expected the Dutchman to be shown the door.

Thomas Tuchel was mooted as a potential replacement but was recently hired as England coach. After losing to West Ham on Sunday in controversial circumstances, the Red Devils have dismissed the Dutchman.

Xavi and Brentford boss Thomas Frank are among the coaches the club reportedly talked to.
