“My heart hurts in ways I can’t even explain. I’m trying to be strong, but some days the pain of losing you feels unbearable,” she wrote.

She also said the passage of time had changed little, and that the absence of Adams’ voice, smile and presence still felt painfully recent.

Adendorf said she still wished for another opportunity to speak to Adams and spend time with him.

“Life has carried on, but a part of me is still stuck on the day you left,” she wrote.

Her message ended with a tender farewell to the late footballer, assuring him he would remain loved and remembered.

“You will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever a part of me,” Adendorf wrote. “One month gone, but never one day forgotten.”

Mamelodi Sundowns has since announced that his number 8 jersey will be retired for the 2026/27 season. The club called it “a fitting tribute” to a player whose impact on the “Yellow Nation” would not be forgotten.

Adams’ death has therefore left two distinct legacies: a personal one carried by his loved ones and a footballing one that will remain at Sundowns.
