Teboho Mokoena's Agent Confirms No Official Bid From Saudi Club Al Ahli

Reports of Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli pursuing Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena have been met with a swift response from the player's representative.

Speculation intensified after Al Ahli lost Ivory Coast captain Franck Kessie, who departed the Jeddah-based club to join Italian Serie A outfit Atalanta. Al Ahli have since been linked with Mokoena as a potential midfield replacement.
Binkin rules out formal approach
Mokoena's agent, Glyn Binkin, told Egyptian publication Kora Plus that no official communication has been received from Al Ahli.

"Despite there being a lot of speculation about this, as happens almost every transfer window, I have not received any contact from the club regarding this matter so far," Binkin said.
He added that he was equally confident Sundowns had not been approached.
"I am certain that Mamelodi Sundowns have not received anything either, otherwise I believe they would have informed me about it."

Binkin also clarified that any club wishing to sign Mokoena would need to engage directly with Sundowns, given that the midfielder is still under contract.
"Mokoena still has three years remaining on his contract, so any club interested in signing him would need to contact and negotiate with Mamelodi Sundowns," he said.
Agent backs Mokoena for move abroad
Binkin explained that Mokoena’s potential move abroad had always been part of the midfielder’s long-term career plans. When he extended his contract with Sundowns two years ago, the club was aware that he would eventually seek an opportunity to continue his career outside South Africa.
Adding a layer of intrigue to the situation is the fact that Al Ahli and Mamelodi Sundowns are scheduled to face each other in the 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup in September, meaning the Saudi side would have an opportunity to assess Mokoena at close range before any formal negotiations could begin.
