Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Happy Mashiane is undergoing fitness assessments at Siwelele FC in his ongoing bid to secure a new club following his departure from Amakhosi.
The 28-year-old has been a free agent since June 2026, when both parties agreed to end his contract after two difficult seasons at Chiefs. Mashiane, who was born in Tembisa, first joined the Amakhosi development structures as a teenager before earning his promotion to the senior squad at the start of 2019.
**Mashiane's Search for a New Club**
His latest assessment at Siwelele began approximately two weeks ago and is still ongoing. No contract has been signed at this stage. Mashiane does have some familiarity with the club, however, having spent time on loan at Siwelele during the previous season, though his involvement was limited to just a single appearance.
Before linking up with Siwelele, Mashiane had been assessed at Stellenbosch FC under coach Gavin Hunt. Despite completing the trial, the Cape Winelands club elected not to sign him, citing fitness as the primary concern that led to their decision.

**Long Road Back to Professional Football**
Mashiane's journey back into professional football has been a gradual one since leaving Chiefs. The former defender now has an opportunity to rebuild his career at Siwelele, a club with which he already has some existing familiarity, potentially making his reintegration smoother should a deal be concluded.
No signing has been confirmed at the time of publication.
