The Johannesburg nightlife and entertainment scene is reeling after Booth Hospitality Group publicly confirmed the arrest of its former General Manager, Lefhoko "Fox" Bile, following an internal probe into alleged financial misconduct, irregularities, and theft.

Founder Abolore Jaji broke his silence in a personal statement on 6 October 2026, revealing that the ordeal had triggered severe financial losses, cash flow strain, damaged client relationships, and a battered reputation for the hospitality brand.

A betrayal that cut close to home

For Jaji, who was romantically linked to Thando Thabethe, the pain goes beyond balance sheets. He described Bile as someone he had personally groomed, supported, and treated like family, publicly acknowledging his contributions and even making a brand-new BMW available for his personal use.

"One of the most painful chapters has been dealing with allegations of financial misconduct and theft involving a former manager whom I mentored, supported and treated like family. I recognised his hard work, gave him opportunities and made a brand-new BMW available for his use. That support came from trust and a sincere desire to see him succeed," Jaji wrote.

The fallout has rippled well beyond the company's internal operations, directly affecting artists, staff members, and other stakeholders who rely on Booth Hospitality Group's venues for their livelihoods.

Database misuse and influencer privacy breach alleged

The scope of what is being investigated extends beyond the financial. The group disclosed it is actively looking into whether a client database was deliberately used to redirect patrons towards competing venues, and whether false and damaging information was spread through WhatsApp broadcasts and gossip platforms.

One of the most unsettling allegations involves the alleged misuse of Jaji's personal identity. According to the Nigerian businessman, Bile reportedly used his name under false pretences to obtain the private residential addresses of social media influencers, claiming the information was needed to send flowers on Jaji's behalf.

"We have received further reports that my name was used to obtain influencers' private home addresses under the pretence that I wanted to send flowers, followed by personal visits and romantic approaches. I did not authorise anyone to use my name for those purposes," Jaji stated.

Management is now calling on anyone who received suspicious communications sent under Jaji's name to preserve those materials and come forward privately.

Jaji was clear that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, affirming that the matter will be resolved through South Africa's formal legal system rather than through social media commentary.

Looking ahead, the group stressed it is cooperating fully with law enforcement and providing all documentation required for the criminal case. Jaji's focus has turned to rebuilding trust, reinforcing internal controls, and restoring the brand's standing with its community.

"I remain committed to accountability, strengthening our operations, protecting our team and earning your trust through the hospitality and service we provide," he said.

Concluding with "Booth Is Home," Jaji made it clear he intends to let his actions and service speak louder than public statements.
