The Sharks have confirmed a major contract decision involving Springbok star André Esterhuizen, with the experienced centre set to remain in Durban until 2030.

The 32-year-old has agreed to continue with the Sharks through the 2030 season. He has already played 125 senior matches for the club across all competitions.

Esterhuizen took over as Sharks captain last season and has established himself as an important figure in the team. He is also a regular Springbok option, having made his international debut in 2018 before becoming part of the squad that won the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Known as "The Giant", the centre offers both physicality and versatility. He can also cover loose forward, providing additional selection options.

The Sharks Rugby Club announced the agreement on X, stating:

"Andre the Giant will continue to rumble forward for the black-and-white."

The club added that Esterhuizen "will remain our player until June 2030".
