Eskom says South African taxpayers will have to cover the shortfall of approximately R300 billion if Nersa continues to reject their proposed tariff increases.

Nine Eskom employees have been rescued by the South African Police Service after they were held hostage by members of the Mabopane community north of Tshwane.

According to Eskom Ceo Andre de Ruyter, South Africans should expect an increase electricity tariffs in the future as Eskom tries to bring down its high debt.
